Founded in 1936, Souzmultfilm Animation Film Studio is the biggest animated film studio in Europe. Today the collection of the Film Fund of Souzmultfilm comprises more than 1500 animated films created with hand-drawn, puppet, cut-out and other animation techniques. A vast number of films have won numerous awards at prestigious international film festivals.

The collection includes animated films based on Russian folklore and European fairy-tales, comedy stories, funny and amusing sketches featuring children and animals, musical tales, sports films, detective stories, having raised several generations of Russian people. Many of these films are included not only in Russian, but also in the world «golden fund» of the animation film art.

This volume introduces the selection «The Main Cartoons of the Country», collecting 127 best and most popular animated films which have become an essential part of the great Russian cultural heritage. By the moment almost all Main Cartoons have gone through frame-by-frame sound and visual restoration, and the Fund possesses all of the films in digital quality. Using the films or any parts of them (fragments, characters, sound tracks, etc.) is possible only under the according contract with the Federal State Unitary Enterprise «Film Fund of Animation Film Studio Souzmultfilm», or with authorized distributors.
